This is why I thought the Rally was awesome at the Lincoln Memorial in DC this past Saturday...
There were so many people there. There is something amazing about being gathered with hundreds of thousands of people at a place with such meaning and history. And everyone was so nice, considerate, and friendly.
and starving after spending the night to get an awesome spot...but we brought them donuts.
I loved being there with my mom, brother, husband, and extended family.
The speakers were excellent. There was such a feeling of unity there.
Albert Pujols, baseball player from the Dominican Republic (David said everyone knows and loves him in the DR), received an award for his hope.
Dr. Alveda King – the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She was my favorite speaker. She spoke boldly, and really inspired me to be proud of my beliefs and opinions.
I've never been a Glenn Beck fan/never really cared, but I went with an open mind and really loved everything he had to say. He talked about the importance of turning to God during good times and bad, something I truly believe in. He encouraged prayer with our families, and on our own, charity for those around us, and hope in Jesus Christ. He also talked about how family is the root of happiness, and how important it is to have a good spouse at your side. I know it has been the biggest blessing in my life to have my sweet Collin.
It was a very inspiring day. I still feel it and want to be a better person so that I can make a difference in the world.
The thing is.... you ARE an inspiration, and HAVE made such a difference in so many people's lives already... Keep up the good work. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved that day and I'm really trying to use Faith, Hope and Charity more in my life. I love the freedoms we have and want to make sure they are in place for generations to come.
ReplyDeleteI think that will be a day in History that will not be forgotten.
I'm grateful we were there together Nikki. I sure love you!
