I'm always wanting to cut out junk and candy because its such a weakness of mine but its so hard to do it alone!! But starting Monday my sister-in-law and I are doing this 21 day challenge!! We will be adding NO SODA and workouts to it and will be texting each other daily to say what we ARE eating, what exercises etc to keep accountable. Yes, I realize this goes through Thanksgiving. But it doesn't say we can't have turkey or stuffing or potatoes or salads. We will just cut out pie, cakes, and the insane amounts of fattening appetizers. I'm really excited about it! Anyone want to join us?
you're amazing! you can do it! rah, rah, rah! there are tons of appetizers and sides that you can have at thanksgiving. make a couple of healthy, nice veggie-based ones and you'll still be stuffed happy at the holiday!
ReplyDeletep.s. i think my last comment didn't go through, but i love you no matter your political leanings! friends cherish friends differences and let differences expand their knowledge, love, and sharing!
THANK YOU, Love. Yes we are going to do sweet potato mashed potatoes, butternut squash soup (without cream), and a turkey with less-fatty prep. I can have wheat rolls and I'll make something with fruit for dessert.
DeleteHmm...since about the only thing I like at Thanksgiving is on this "do not eat" list, I'm not sure I could do it on that day. But if you let me have that day off, I'd consider it. Also I would take off peanut butter. I don't consider it in the same class as the others.
ReplyDeleteAppetizer at Thanksgiving? Interesting! So not my experience!
PB in moderation is good for you. Especially before a high intensity work out. A few of the trainers at the gym have been recommending I have a small smear on toast before I go for long runs. High in protein bla bla bla. Just saying...
ReplyDeleteAnyway good luck! Getting healthy is always more rewarding then cake. Well, not for me. But I hear other people say that. ha!
Yes, sometimes I'll have wheat toast and a little PB for a quick breakfast--since it's hard to make an omelet with veggies with Fred needing me. But I can find something else! :)
DeleteWoo Hoo!!! You got it girl! You can totally do it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Paige!!!!! You're my inspiration!!! You're amazing!!
DeleteI think that list is great except for 2 things - dark chocolate and all natural peanut butter (with no added sugar) are great, healthy treats, in moderation (agree with two posters above). Just remember, it's about lifestyle change, not just a fad diet. Look at it that way and this will have lasting effects. Good luck! Trader Joe's has a great 72% cacao dark chocolate that is actually vegan that my macrobiotic friend swears by and eats a square of every day.
ReplyDeleteyes, Purvi, I agree 100% about fad diets--yuck! this is just a 21 day challenge to get me through thanksgiving without eating tons of cakes and pies. I had so much chocolate for Halloween that I just want to do without it for a while. I will be eating lots of fruit and and putting honey on things now and again to satisfy cravings. I just want to take a break since my GREATEST weakness with food is baked goods, candy, sugar!! And I'm going to sub Almond butter for PB. I only EVER eat the natural PB with no sugar added and not in excess, but almond butter is a little less fattening and I just want to change things up a bit. :) :)
DeleteI cheer you on for you battle with willpower!! You can do it!!
ReplyDeletethank you! it's not as hard as I thought! I got everything out of the house and I've been eating fruit instead of candy. :)
